Classic halved roasting method. The cavity holds butter/brown sugar/maple while it cooks. Stovetop can’t replicate this.
Butternut Squash
OVENRoast cubed 400°F, 30-40 min.
Caramelizes and concentrates natural sweetness. Dense starch converts to sugar with prolonged dry heat.
Delicata Squash
OVENSlice into rings/half-moons, roast 425°F, 20-25 min.
Edible skin gets crispy while the flesh caramelizes. The ring/half-moon shape roasts perfectly in the oven.
Kabocha Squash
OVENRoast wedges/cubes 400°F, 30-35 min.
Same as butternut — dense, sweet squash that transforms with roasting.
Spaghetti Squash
OVENHalve, roast 400°F, 40-45 min.
Only real option. Need oven heat to cook through the thick walls and soften the strands inside. Stovetop is impractical.
